Greece
Athens ’26
A city as a gateway to the islands, and away from the crowds a destination in itself.
Places
Areopagus Hill
Plan B when the Acropolis was sold out — half an hour on the rock with the Acropolis in front and all of Athens below. Better than plan A.
Edem Beach
Reached by tram from the centre. A swim and lunch at the beach bar before the afternoon flight.
Plaka
Narrow lanes, steps, small tavernas and motorbikes parked where physics says they shouldn't fit. Best done without a map.
Temple of Olympian Zeus
First stop straight off the metro. Huge columns, blue sky, and ordinary Athens traffic waiting at the lights next to them.
Acropolis
Free-entry Sunday, tickets sold out at both gates. Seen from Areopagus Hill instead.
Flisvos
Seafront walk along the coast from Edem Beach.
Panathenaic Stadium
Roman Agora
Journeys

Aegean island hopping 2026
Athens first, then south by air to Karpathos, Kasos and Sitia in eastern Crete — and home by way of a night on Hydra. A journey where the best things happen between places.
